Rural Route (radio & YouTube)

2020, Dec. 3rd – Trent Loos does his daily radio show for several rural stations, as well as his YouTube channel. Thursday co-host Jenny Schweigert joins as Trent catches up with Vincent & Lost Americana, returning after a previous interview two years before. Strong Towns Upzoned (podcast)

2020, Jun. 24 – This podcast titled “Small Towns Are Dying” didn’t involve and interview or a look at Lost Americana, but used an article Vincent Johnson wrote for the Americana Conservative magazine about a rural road trip as the starting point for a deep dive into the topic. Strong Towns founder Chuck Marohn joined Upzoned host Abby Kinney for a very interesting Lost Americanaesque conversation. (Click here for a link to the 32 minute episode.)

Capturing the Abandoned (podcast)

2019, Apr. 2nd – Hosts Lex Nichols & Vincent Gearhart chat with Vincent Johnson about photographing and exploring abandoned places in their semi monthly episodes. This interview covers everything from how Lost Americana started, to technical talk about shooting large format 4×5 film and post production editing. Joliet Herald News (newspaper)

2018, Nov. 18th – My hometown newspaper did a full feature story on me and the Lost Americana documentary. Very fitting because it was where I had my first freelance photojournalism assignment and was the town I photographed my first barn in. Sadly a website revamp returns a broken link, but you can see the article here as a photo file.

AgUncensored (podcast)

2018, Aug. 18th – Vincent Johnson, was on to talk about the Lost Americana project and the outlook for agricultural communities across America with host, and all-around good guy  Jerod McDaniel on the AgUncensored Podcast. McDaniel’s does a regular podcast, typically with one guest, in what he refers to as a “look at Agriculture with an unfiltered view. Discussing serious issues as well as nonsense in long conversation form.” (Click any part of the text to hear the podcast.)

Wisconsin Public Radio's Central Time

2018, July 26 – The NPR station in Madison, WI, Wisconsin Public Radio (WNPR) interviewed Vincent Johnson about his travels through rural America and how he documents it with his camera. Host Rob Ferrett, leads interview that explores the projects origins, to a deeper look at rural population decline.  (click anywhere for a link to WNPR and this 13 minute segment.)

Talking Pictures Podcast

2015, Sept. 4th – Photo-editor and life long photojournalist Todd Mizner hosts a photographic based podcast for the Disptach-Argus Newspaper, out of Rock Island, Illinois. The podcast interviews mostly photojournalists about their work.
